Jerry Lynn Austin, a cherished soul and respected community member, was born on August 21, 1936, in Parsons, Tennessee. He left this world peacefully on February 3, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and joy known to many.
Jerry dedicated a significant part of his life to serving the United States Postal Service as a Postal Clerk, where his commitment and work ethic shone brightly until his well-deserved retirement. In addition to his professional life, Jerry answered the call of duty by serving three years in the Air Force, a chapter of his life that instilled a sense of pride and honor within him.
Those who knew Jerry will fondly remember his remarkable personality, characterized by a love for good times and laughter. He had an effortless ability to bring people together, sharing moments that will forever be remembered. He possessed a discerning appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, which included enjoying a drink on occasion, immersing himself in the pages of the Bible, and diligently studying his Bible lessons. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and provided him with strength and guidance throughout his journey.
In his leisure time, Jerry found joy in watching television, often engaging with various shows that sparked his interest. He was an avid cyclist and maintained this hobby well into his seventies, embodying a spirit of vitality and enthusiasm for life. Known for his good health, Jerry approached life with a fervor that inspired those around him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Diana Oaks; step-children, Jerry Blackstock, Carol Wimberly, and Michael Blackstock; grandchildren, Kirt Oaks, Kristy Oaks, Nikki Austin, Tabitha Oaks, Karly Oaks, Katherine Oaks, and Keith Oaks; and great-grandchildren, Clara Oaks, Austin Oaks, Juane Flynn, Mason Austin, Chance Wheeler, Tristan Wheeler, and Carsten Wheeler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Helen Stanfield Austin; second wife, Mae Austin; longtime companion, Judy Tritt; parents, Van and Lois Austin; and son, Allen Wayne Austin.
The memory of Jerry Lynn Austin will undoubtedly live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and infectious spirit. His family and friends will carry forward his legacy, cherishing the moments shared and the laughter he brought into their lives.
