Jennie Sue Doss, age 89, of Jackson, TN, passed away at her residence in Jackson on Saturday, September 25, 2021, surrounded by her adoring family.
Jennie was born in Holland, MO, on August 15, 1932, to the late Joe and Mary (Joyce) Prichard. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Russell Doss, and her brothers John Edwin and Bennie Joe Prichard.
Jennie married Russell, her life’s companion and father of her children, on June 24, 1956. They shared 43 years of blissful marriage.
Jennie was a 1951 graduate of Holland High School in Holland, MO, and later completed her degree from West Tennessee Business College. She worked for more than 20 years in home health care as a medical coding specialist.
She truly enjoyed her work outside of the home but found her greatest joy as the homemaker for her husband and children. She had a loving spirit and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her family, and especially treasured times spent with her grandchildren. Jennie was a minister’s wife and was known by many as the best at making pecan pie, biscuits, and gravy. She made friends easily and was loyal to those she befriended.
Jennie loved the Lord and was certain to share the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, William “Billy” Russell Doss of Jackson, TN and daughter, Susan Cox and husband, Mark of McKenzie, TN; grandchildren, Sabrina Hoffman and wife, Jen of Walkersville, MD, William Robert Doss of Martin, TN, Zack Cox and wife, Morgan, and Leah Beth Cox; great-grandchildren, Hannah Gafner, Peyton Cox, and Jenson Cox; her devoted friend, Molly, a 12-year-old Mini-Schnauzer as well as many other friends and neighbors who mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be held at Arrington Funeral Directors on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Barry Scott officiating and interment to follow in the Follis Chapel Cemetery in Trenton, TN. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the service time at 2:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be Zack Cox, Billy Doss, “Little” Billy Doss, Jason Fonville, Mark Prichard, and Zach Ivy.
