Jean Ryle ?Griff? Griffith passed away on May 15, 2011 at the Bailey Park Community Center in Humboldt, TN at the age of 88. He was born on January 14, 1923 in Haskell County, TX, the son of the late Neva and David Griffith. He was one of thirteen children.Griff was a retired captain in the United States Marines and was one of the survivors on the original USS Lexington. He worked for twenty-seven years for General Motors retiring as a superintendent, before moving to Tennessee in 1984.He is survived by his wife Peggy Wall Griffith of Trenton, TN; four children, Neva Griffith Miller (George Michael) of Bothell, WA, David Griffith of Ft. Worth, TX, Dean Griffith of Huntingdon, TN and Scott Griffith of Jackson, TN; three grandchildren, Maggie Griffith, Brook Griffith and Evan Miller and one surviving sister, Gena Beth Ard of Houston, TX along with numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy and Griff were married at the First Methodist Church of Jackson on August 28, 1951.He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Patricia Griffith.The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
