Janet Yarbro, 86, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at West Tennessee Transitional Care. She was born January 9, 1927 in Hope, AR the daughter of the late Henry O’Neal Forgy Sr. and Blossom Barton Forgy, but spent most of her school years in Shawnee, OK. After graduating from high school, she attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, TX and completed her degree at Union University. She was in Chi Omega Sorority while at Union. After graduation she taught 7th grade English for Jackson Madison Co. School System for over 30 years.
Janet and her late husband, Ed, were married for over 60 years. Although they did not have children of their own, they took an active interest in their nieces, nephews and the children of their friends, often taking them to the Tennessee River to boat, ski and picnic.
Janet has been a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and was still attending the North Jackson Church of Christ at the time she became ill.
Her casket was made by hand by her nephew, Jon Forgy, from a cherry tree which had been cut down years before on her property.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Henry and a nephew, Hank.
Her family will miss her positive attitude and ability to have fun.
She is survived by her nephews, Robert Forgy, Jon Forgy, Richard Forgy, Jimmy Yeiser, Jim Harper and Dennis Pritchett; nieces, Martha Ann Siler, Karen Harper, Mary Forgy, Angela Forgy, Sarah Forgy Pritchett and Kate Forgy and several Great nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Arrington Funeral Directors with David Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
