James Robert Young, 89, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born February 26, 1926 in Friendship, TN the son of the late James Frank Young and Edna Lepper Young. Robert was the owner of Young’s Plumbing and Electrical and also a farmer, He was a WWII Veteran, an avid square dancer and a member of First United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN. Robert enjoyed watching RFD TV and listening to Gospel music. He was a well-known regular at Cracker Barrel and loved eating his niece Sherry’s home cooked meals. Robert was a great storyteller and loved to reminisce with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy McCoy of Jackson, TN; a sister, Frankie Crum of Trenton, TN; two grandchildren, Yates and Sarah Hazlehurst of Jackson, TN and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was known to many as Uncle Robert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Young and a daughter, Sheila Young Childress.
SERVICES: Funeral service for Mr. Young will be held 6:00 PM Thursday July 2, 2015 with Rev. Dan Camp officiating and a private family burial in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
