James Ashley Hadley III, age 60, died on Friday, January 13, 2017 at his Jackson residence surrounded by his loving family and friends.
James was born in Memphis, TN on February 24, 1956, the son of James Ashley Hadley, Jr and Bonnie Jean Watkins. He was a retired twenty-year employee from Proctor and Gamble of Jackson and was a member of the Medina Community Church. He attended Humboldt High School where he was a member of the marching band and played trumpet and later graduating from Old Hickory Academy of Jackson, TN. He served as a Page in Washington, DC during his Junior and Senior years of high school. He had a great love and adoration for all animals. He was an avid Lionel Train collector, as well as, collecting and repairing antiques clocks. He loved to sing and play the guitar and was a member of the Good News Singers. He enjoyed collecting antiques, with the Victorian style being his favorite. He was known for his ability to bargain when purchasing items, which made him a great collector. He had a love for Corvette cars and currently owned a 1982 that he was restoring. His greatest asset was that he always placed others before himself.
He is survived by his wife Karen Long Hadley of Jackson, TN; his children, Russ Friend and wife Janna and Stephanie Carter all of Jackson and Nick Friend and wife Ashley of Medina, TN; his parents James A. Hadley, Jr and Bonnie Watkins Hadley of Humboldt, TN; his brother, Hal Hadley of Cordova, TN and his grandsons, Austin Friend, Riley Friend, Micah Friend and Elijah Carter and his granddaughters, Lexie Friend, Annelise Friend, Brayden Friend and Adrianna Carter, his nephew, Will Hadley and wife Kylan of Nashville, TN and his brother-in-law’s, Kenny Long and wife Kay of Jackson, TN and Glenn Long and wife Annette of Trenton, TN.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Hadley, his maternal grandparents, Rufus and Dovie Watkins and his paternal grandparents, James A. Hadley, Sr. and Mary Maude Hadley.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Shane Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Humboldt, TN.
Pallbearers to serve will be Russ Friend, Nick Friend, Hunter Long, Dalton Long, Ben Long and Will Hadley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Long, Kenny Long, Hal Hadley, Steve Mitchell, Rusty Hooper and Ron Haney
The family will be receiving friends on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
