J. David WilcherFuneral services for Dave Wilcher, 77, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Hollywood Cemetery with Rev. Bill McClarin officiating. Mr. Wilcher died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Maplewood Healthcare.Dave was born May 7, 1933 in Tennille, GA. the son of the late George and Nina Wilcher. He served in the Korean War as a paratrooper and was the recipient of two purple hearts. Dave was an accomplished artist, published author, a private and acrobatic pilot, a member of VFW post 1848 and the Rakkasans 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team Association. He moved to Jackson in 1959 and started a career with McCowat ?Mercer Press and then became a successful business owner for over 30 years .Dave was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He is survived by his wife Frances F. Wilcher; two daughters Debbie Elaine Hopper and husband Jerry of Martin, TN and Dianne Elizabeth Summey and husband Steven of Marietta, GA; a step brother Nathan Cooper and wife Betty of Griffin, GA; two step sisters Lois Arrington of Thomaston, GA and Maggie Duffey and husband Norman of Griffin, GA; two grandchildren David Maners and wife Danielle of Jackson, TN and Marjorie Spring and husband Jeff of McKenzie, TN; two great grandchildren Stuart and Andrew Spring.The family will receive friends Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
