Idella Dunahoo Walker

June 28, 1921 — August 16, 2024

Jackson, TN

Idella Dunahoo Walker, known affectionately Dell or Mama Dell, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home on August 16, 2024, at Christian Care Center of Medina, Tennessee, at the age of 103.

She was born on June 28, 1921, in Trenton, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William I and Gladys Reed Dunahoo. Idella lived a life rich in love, faith, and community. She was a retired Real Estate Agent, dedicating her career to helping others find their dream homes. In addition to her successful career, she was a devoted Cub Scout Den Mother, sharing her warmth and guidance with many young scouts.

Mama Dell possessed a wonderfully outgoing and chipper personality that endeared her to those around her, making her presence a cherished blessing in her community.

Idella had a host of interests and hobbies that brought joy to her life. She found great pleasure in sewing, gardening, cooking, and, most significantly, reading her Bible. Her passion for her faith was evident in her active participation at the West Jackson Baptist Church, where she cherished her church community and was involved in various activities. As a member of the Eastern Star, Idella upheld values of service and friendship that resonated deeply within her. Dell will be remembered for her spirited nature and her ability to create lasting memories with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, James Walker, Jr., and his wife Deborah; her son Kevin Walker; her daughter-in-law Mary Jane Walker; and her numerous grandchildren: Clay and his wife Stacey, Melinda Fahning and her husband Tim, Andrew Walker and his wife Wendy, Wade Walker and his wife Lara, and Leigh Hom and her husband Chris. Additionally, Idella's legacy is carried on by her nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, who fondly recall the love and wisdom she imparted to them.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Walker, Sr., a son, Ronald Walker, three brothers and seven sisters,
