Homer Forrester

Funeral services for Homer Coleman Forrester, Jr. will be at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, Tennessee, with Dr. Blair Bentley officiating. A private burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mr. Forrester died on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Bedford Care Center in Marion, Mississippi.Mr. Forrester was born on June 6, 1919, the son of the late Homer Coleman Forrester, Sr. and Thelma Butts Forrester. He graduated from Hazard High School in Hazard, Kentucky. Mr. Forrester proudly served his country for six years from 1940-1946 in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, beginning in the Caribbean and Pacific Areas and later participating in action against the enemy at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, and Pelelui Islands Palau Gr. Upon his honorable discharge he began a lifelong career as an electrician with the TVA, from which he retired in 1984. Mr. Forrester was a member of IBEW for sixty years. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Tennessee.He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Sue Byrum Forrester and his son, Lawrence Coleman Forrester, and by his father- and mother-in-law, Chester Lawrence and Lee Ella Byrum; three brothers Frank, Earl, and John Forrester and two sisters Doris Forrester Causby and Anne Forrester Decker.He is survived by a son, Glenn Randall Forrester and his wife Julie Parker Forrester of Summerville, South Carolina; a daughter Susan Lee Forrester Jackson and her husband Donald Glenn Jackson of Meridian, Mississippi; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Estes Forrester of Eakes, Tennessee; a sister Lynn Forrester Dupree of Winston Salem, North Carolina and a brother-in-law, Joe Causby of Winston Salem, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Craig Jackson and his fiancé, Laine Williams, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Katie Forrester Molway and her husband, Scott, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Drew Jackson and his wife, Sarah, of Pearl, Mississippi, and Allen Coleman Forrester of Columbia, South Carolina; great grandson Patrick Coleman Molway of Belle Chasse, Louisiana and step great grandson Johathan Myers of Memphis, Tennessee.Pallbearers to serve will be Craig Jackson, Drew Jackson, Clyde Edward Puckett, Wayne Dunston, Sam Snider, and Scott Molway.Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Allen Coleman Forrester, Eddie Frommel, Curt Crowley, and Bill Johnson.
