Herman J. Smith Funeral services for Herman Smith, 85, will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at North Jackson Church of Christ with Brian Giselbach and David Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.Mr. Smith passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital. He was born December 4, 1924 in Henderson Co. the son of the late Will and Mary Sparkman Smith. Mr. Smith was a Navy Veteran and Alumni of Vanderbilt University. He was an executive for Blue Cross/Blue Shield for 37 years and a faithful member of North Jackson Church of Christ where he was a former Elder and taught bible class for over 50 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth Averett Smith of Jackson , a daughter Jan Smith Phillips, granddaughter Marcia Ruth Phillips, great granddaughter Chloe Nicole Waters, all of Memphis, TN; a brother William A. Smith of Parsons, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers to serve are Dennis Smith, Terry Smith, Randy Hysmith, Larry Stevenson, Bill Woods, Shane Casey, Chris Casey and Gary Grisham.
