Harry S. DeLoach died peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Centennial Medial Center at the age of 74.
He was born in Jackson, Tennessee on July 27, 1948, the son of the late William Rooker and Maxine Simmons DeLoach. Harry joined the Navy Air Reserve in 1967 as a Seaman apprentice and after almost 40 years of reserve and active service he retired as a Captain.
Captain DeLoach’s personal decorations included the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy, and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars.
In civilian life, Captain DeLoach was employed with Norfolk Southern Railway as a Locomotive Engineer. Harry received his pilot’s license at the age of twenty-four. He received his BA degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and was FAA certified pilot with a commercial, multi-engine instrument rating. In additions he held a FAA Airframe and Power plant inspector Aircraft license.
In 2011 he was “Called” to preach and later pastored several churches. He loved playing his guitar and singing, traveling, and going on mission trips to share the Gospel. Later in life he and his friend, Gary Johnson built and flew five single engine airplanes.
Harry is survived by his wife, whom he met in the first grade and married in 1968, Jennie Morgan DeLoach; his three children, Jill DeLoach, Russell DeLoach and wife Margaret and Abby Arnold and husband Brian; his siblings, Preston DeLoach and wife Mary, Jerry DeLoach and wife Judy, Mickey DeLoach and wife Olivia, Johnny DeLoach and wife Caroline and Gayle Harrison and husband Nelson; four grandchildren, Jordan Painter and husband Ross, Megan DeLoach, Anna Kate DeLoach and Jennamarie Wright and two great grandchildren, Ella Kate Painter and Adalee DeLoach.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Larry Stegall and Rev. Paul Hare officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike DeLoach, Andy DeLoach, Bob DeLoach, Bill DeLoach, Barry DeLoach, David DeLoach, Haydon Harrison, Ross Painter, and Trey Harrison.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service at Arrington Funeral Directors.
