Greg Rushing, age 59, died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Greg was born in Jackson, TN on August 26, 1961, the son of Alice Faye Collins Rushing and the late Virgil Leon Rushing. Greg was a self-taught auto body repairman starting out in his home garage. He would continue his love for this career owning and operated Rushing Auto Repair for over twenty years. One of Greg’s passions was Drag Racing and was known as the “Silver Fox”. Over the years of racing, he had won numerous trophies and awards including being a two-time Super Chevy Winner, The Track Champion in 2017 at the Memphis International Raceway and the Pickwick Track Champion a position that he held for several years. He loved his children and family and held a special place in his heart for his dog. He was a member of Madison Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Rushing of Jackson, TN; his children, Brent Rushing of Jackson, TN, Randy J. Rushing (Savannah) of Medina, TN, Lauren Rhodes (Scotty) of Huntingdon, TN, Miranda Smith (James) of Jackson, TN, Scarlett Smith of Jackson, TN and Amber Ward (Thomas) of Jackson, TN; his mother, Alice Faye Rushing of Jackson, TN, his sister, Alison Rushing Griffin of Jackson, TN and two nieces Abby and Emily Boone of Jackson, TN and three grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 4, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Greg Gilbreath officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Stricken, Brian Anglin, Tim Pace, Jeff Michaels, Robert Bailey, and Kyle Rumley.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Arrington Funeral Directors.
