Glenda Jo Sydboten of Jackson, TN passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the age of 81.
Glenda was born in Symsonia, KY, on Tuesday, November 19, 1940, the daughter of the late William Woodrow and Thelma (Cole) Watkins. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Lyndell Sydboten; grandson, Cory Mitchell Scott; brother, Jerry Watkins; and sisters, Jeanette Watkins Ray, Laquita Watkins Hendrickson, and Juanita Watkins Lambert.
Glenda married Edward Lee Sydboten, best known as “Bud,” the love of her life, on February 16, 1962, and they shared 59 years of blissful marriage. They completed they family with the addition of three sons and a daughter. Glenda’s most treasured times were those spent with her family.
Glenda was a woman of many talents. She worked for many years as a self-employed bookkeeper but found her greatest accomplishments in her work with the Women’s Aglow Christian Women’s Ministry. Glenda loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Cotton Grove Baptist Church. The epitome of patience and grace, Glenda was always helpful and slow to anger, and a joy to be around. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Edward; sons, William Sydboten and wife, Tara of Jackson, TN, and James Edward Sydboten and wife, Kitty of Tompkinsville, KY; daughter, Julie Scott of Rockfield, KY; brother, James Lyndell Watkins; sister, Donna Watkins Ray; grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who mourn her passing.
SERVICES: The family will be having a Memorial Service at Cotton Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
