Gertrude Sullivan Driver passed away on October 3rd, 2021. She was born in Duck Hill, MS on January 8th, 1937, the daughter of the late Richard and Annie Sue Sullivan.
She graduated from Binford High School in 1955 where she was a member of the choir, track team and basketball team. After graduation she entered Memphis State and Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis. She was captain of the Memorial Baptist nurse’s basketball team and was named outstanding player in the Cotton States nurses basketball tournament.
Gertrude married Dr. Clarence “Bubba” Driver in 1959 and they moved to Jackson, Tn. There she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Cotillion Club, The Jackson Service League, and the West Tennessee Consolidated Medical Auxiliary and served on the Old Hickory Board of Directors for several years.
She is predeceased by her husband, who passed away in July of 2010 and her daughter, Elizabeth Driver, who passed away in March of 2018.
She is survived by her son, Todd Driver (Lee) of Jackson, TN. And her three grandchildren, Blair, Ellen, and Wallace Driver.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 10, 2021, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. John White officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in her name to First Presbyterian Church, 1573 N. Highland Ave., Jackson, TN 38301, or Youth Town, 3641 Youth Town Road, Pinson, TN 38366 or the Star Center, 1119 Old Humboldt Road, Jackson, TN 38305.
