Georgia McLeary Blankenship was born in Humboldt, TN, daughter of the late Harold Woodard McLeary, Sr. and Frances Warmath McLeary.   She grew up in the Methodist church with a strong foundation of faith and service that followed her the remainder of her life.  She was a classically trained pianist and found great joy in music.  She graduated from Lambuth University and University of Tennessee Medical Center and pursued a career as a medical technologist.

Georgia’s husband and children meant everything to her and she devoted her life to loving and supporting their every endeavor.  She played an active role in her Children's school, and participated as a Board Member, chair of the Antique dealers at the annual Holiday Mart, and was an active member of the Fine Arts Program.  Additionally, she enjoyed serving with the Jackson Symphony League and the Junior League of Jackson.  Her legacy as a devoted wife, mother and friend will be in the memories of those who knew her.

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband, Joseph David Blankenship, MD, of Jackson, TN; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Blankenship and Mary Frances Blankenship of Jackson, TN; son, Joseph David Blankenship, Jr. of Jackson, TN; sister-in-law, Edith Stewart McLeary of Franklin, TN; niece, Catherine “Brooke” McLeary Jones (B. Jones III) and children, Margaret Frances Jones and B. Jones, IV of Franklin, TN; cousins, John D. Glover, MD of Birmingham, AL, Richard W. Glover (Rachel) of Greenwood, IN, and Walter M. Warmath of Humboldt, TN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Woodard McLeary, Sr. and Frances Warmath McLeary; her brother, Harold Woodard McLeary, Jr.; and sister-in law, Sarah Patton Glover.

Georgia maintained a strong Christian faith throughout her life, and recently encouraged her family with the following scripture:
“For this is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.  Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name”.  Hebrews 13:14-15
