Gail W. Mapes, age 76, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family, under the care of Hospice of West Tennessee.
Born in Kittery, Maine, on October 10, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Marjorie Cathleen Oliver Way. Gail was employed with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for twenty-three years and the Madison County Election Commission for five years. She was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Her passion was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-three years, Tom Mapes of Jackson, TN; a daughter, Marcie Woodard and husband David of Jackson, TN; two stepdaughters, Terri Moyer and husband Bill of Hernando, MS and Jennifer Turner and husband Patrick of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Cannon Moyer and wife Karly, Dannah Johnson and husband Derick, Alexis Carlton and husband Brice, Brinlea Woodard, Lydia Moyer, Maggie Moyer, and Grant Woodard, and three great-grandchildren, Cayden Moyer, Beau Cannon Moyer and Grey Carlton.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Way.
SERVICE: The funeral service for Gail will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will be having a private entombment.
Pallbearers will be Larry Crawford, Bailey Patterson, Grant Woodard, Cannon Moyer, Brice Carlton, Phillip Whitman, David Woodard, and Patrick Turner.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until the service time at 5:00 p.m.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Gideons International, Madison County Camp #U41052 PO Box 173 Jackson, TN 38302-0173, or to Hospice of West Tennessee, 1804 Highway 45 Bypass, Jackson, TN 38305 or online www.wthfoundation.org .
