Fred A. Sego, a longtime truck driver for ABF, passed away on October 31, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born on October 21, 1945, in Florence, AL. Fred was known for his easy-going personality and his dedication to his career.
Fred served in the U.S. Army and proudly defended his country. His military service shaped him into a strong and courageous individual who approached life with determination and perseverance.
Outside of work, Fred enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for the lake life and cherished spending time surrounded by nature's beauty. Whether it was fishing or just relaxing by the water,
In his spare time, Fred pursued various hobbies and interests that brought him satisfaction and fulfillment. He had a passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles and loved the feeling of freedom they provided as he rode down the open road. Additionally, Fred was an active participant in Civil War reenactments, showcasing his historical knowledge while immersing himself in an era he found intriguing.
One of Fred's cherished hobbies was collecting watches, especially pocket watches. Each timepiece held a story and added to the unique tapestry of his life. Through these watches, he not only told time but also reminisced on countless treasured moments.
Fred's life was enriched by love and family. He is survived by his wife Cathy Sego, who stood steadfastly by his side throughout their journey together. Their unwavering commitment to one another served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Fred is also survived by his daughter Suzanne Sego and son Matthew Sego (Shannon); Sister, Donna Hunt, brother John Sego, Grandchildren, Kelsey Wyatt, Nicholas Wyatt, Samuel Hicks, Milo Sego and Diliah Sego; their love brought immeasurable joy and pride to Fred's heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lee and Dorothy Sego. Their guidance and support played an integral role in shaping him into the remarkable individual he became. Fred's daughter Stephanie Sego held a special place in his heart, and her memory will forever be cherished.
SERVICES: Fred's impactful life will be commemorated on November 21, 2023, with a private graveside service taking place at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Fred A. Sego left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege to know him. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, his unwavering dedication, and his genuine love for others. Although he may no longer be physically present, Fred's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his journey. May he rest in eternal peace.
