Mr. Fairley grew up on his family farm in Roberts, Illinois where his love for gardening began at a young age. He proudly served in the US Navy. Having a love for airplanes, he was an avid pilot, owning a Cessna that he flew countless hours. Because of that passion, Everett began working for the FAA as an air traffic controller at McKellar- Sipes Airport in Jackson, TN in the late 80’s.
He was an active member at Campbell Street Church of Christ where he spent each Sunday with his beloved friends. He regularly caught up with a group named “The Yahoo’s” that kept him young at heart. Anyone that knew Mr. Fairley knew that he was one of a kind. He was such a light that always put others first and loved deeply.
Mr. Fairley is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Preising Fairley Wall and James Fairley; brother, Maynard Wall; and treasured friend, Violet Hindman.
Everett was married to Esta Grantham Fairley and together they leave behind one son, Francis (wife Karen), two grandchildren, Diane Butler (husband Lance), Daniel Fairley (wife Mary Audrey), two great granddaughters, Presley Butler and Camden Butler, and one great grandson, Crawford Fairley.
Grandson Keifer Engles (wife Ella) and longtime caregiver and friend, Samuel Engles. Mr. Fairley had a bountiful number of family, friends, and cherished colleagues that will miss him dearly.
SERVICES: The funeral service for Everett Fairley will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Minister Danny Sorrell officiating. A private entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the West TN Veterans Coalition, P. O. Box 11342, Jackson, TN 38308.
