Ernestine Stegall Day

Ernestine Stegall Day, age 91, passed away January 7, 2025 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, TN. 

Ernestine was born in Jackson, TN, to the late Luther Herman and Katie Bell Stegall on July 24, 1933. She was a 1951 graduate of Northside High School and attended West TN Business College.

Ernestine married Dicky Day on August 10, 1952. She was a loving and devoted wife to Dicky for 62 years and mother to five children. 

Ernestine was a member of First Baptist Church, Parsons, TN. She taught Sunday school for many years and enjoyed cooking, quilting, and reading. 

Surviving children are Traci Ann Day Wallis (Harold), Robert Engels “Bobby” Day, Sr. (Margaret), Amy Lynn Day Smith (Lane).

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard “Dicky” Day, Sr., daughter, Susan Lea Day, and son, John Richard “Ricky” Day, Sr.

She leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, as well as her beloved brother, Donald Ray Stegall, and dear friend, Fredia Collett. 

A private family graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens on January 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House at 1520 West Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017.
