Elizabeth Anne Elston, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Jackson, TN on May 27, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Albert G. and Ruth Campbell Brown. Anne grew up in the Sleepy Hollow Community on Bells Highway and attended Pope Elementary School.
After graduation from North Side High School in 1967, she went to work at Second National Bank and continued in banking for 17 years. She then became the attendance secretary at Pope Elementary School before moving to the Central Office as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Maintenance, retiring in 2009.
A strong Christian lady, Anne professed her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all of her daily activities. She was a member of the Woodland Baptist Church in the Union Community of Haywood County.
Anne was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Joe Brown, and Bennie D. Brown.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Jerry Elston of Jackson, TN; son, Ben Elston (Ture) of Jackson, TN; brother, Mack A. Brown (Frankie); sisters-in-law, Rose Mary Brown, and Joyce Elston; friends who were as close as sisters to her, Dottie Davidson Mason (Phil), Connie Haynes Clement (Jim), and Carole Lockard Hill (Larry); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews, and her beloved fur babies, Zoey, and Annie.
The family is extremely grateful for the great care Anne received from Pam, Tonya, Regina, and Christian, who were her caregivers at Comfort Keepers, as well as the wonderful professionals from Hospice of West Tennessee, Judy and Yarnell. These fine ladies are positive proof that there truly are Angels among us.
SERVICE: Anne’s funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Woodland Baptist Church, 885 Woodland Church Road, Brownsville, TN, officiated by Brother Randy Kellough. The burial will follow in the church cemetery, Woodland Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Larry Hill, Jim Clement, Ben Haynes, Dale Catlett, David D. Elston, Edmond Cepparulo and John Thomas Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Mason, Butch Porch, Ed Ellington and the Deacons of Woodland Baptist Church.
