Eleanor Rose Haskins, age 97, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at her Madison County residence.
She was born March 3, 1925, the daughter of the late T. Ray and Annie Day Lasley. Eleanor attended College Street School and later Huntersville School through graduation. She attended Lambuth College for one year. She married to Bill Haskins, who preceded her in death in 2004. Eleanor was employed with Kelly Foods for over 30 years in the accounting department and was part of a close-knit family she helped care for over the years. During World War II she and her sister Anne Shaw worked at the Y-12 Facility at Oak Ridge, TN.
Eleanor grew up in Hays Avenue Methodist Church and in the 1950’s her family gave the land to establish Forest Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted member the rest of her life, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. With a servant’s heart, she and her sister Anne founded a Prayer Chain Ministry. She graciously gave her time working with Habitat for Humanity, served in the local Soup Kitchen and was a part of the Explorers Bible Study. Eleanor was a very thoughtful person that would send cards and notes to many in the community, whether it was a special day or words of encouragement.
She is survived by her three children, Tommy Haskins, Judy Haskins, and Lee Haskins and his wife Connie, all of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren, Beth Bradford and husband Mark, and Jordan Haskins both of Jackson, TN; her sister, Sarah Ralls of Gilbert, AZ; two great grandchildren, Alexis, and Brayden Bradford, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many other family members.
Along with her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings, Dr. Kirby Lasley, Edwin Lasley, Raymond Lasley, Anne Shaw, and Bill Lasley.
