Edward Steele

Edward Steele, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 13, 1928 in Gibson Co. the son of the late Elbert and Esther Steele. Edward was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and met his wife while stationed in England. He was a martin lover, building birdhouses from gourds and was also published in a martin bird enthusiast magazine.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Mary Steele, a daughter, Maryellen Allen and husband Darrell; a daughter in law, Marilyn Steele; a goddaughter, Stacy Hooten and husband Kyle; two brothers, Vernon and Bill Steele; two sisters, Martha Spain and Anita Hassell and two grandchildren, Grant and Taylor Allen. He preceded in death by his son, Sam Steele; brothers Harry and Paul Steele and a sister, Mary Kay Welch. The family would like to thank a very special caregiver, Pauline Long and family friend and physician Dr. John Jenkins.
SERVICES: Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday May 2, 2014 at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Larry Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
