Edna Juanita Dye Higgs, 91, passed away on January 6, 2025, at Wellington Manor in Jackson, TN. Juanita was born on February 5, 1933, to the late Edgar Allen (E.A.) Dye and Lois House Dye.
She spent many years working as a nurse, serving people and her community diligently with care, skill, and kindness before her retirement. Juanita was a graduate of the School of Nursing in Houston, MS, and spent three months in Ohio, training in psychiatric nursing, allowing her to fulfill her mission of caring for the health and emotional care needs of her many patients through the years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Juanita married Cyrus Henry Higgs, Jr. on July 6, 1957, and they spent many happy years together before his untimely death.
She is survived by her sons, Cyrus Henry Higgs, III (Currie) of Jackson, TN and David Higgs of Bolivar, TN; daughter, Cheryl Higgs Alford of Hawley, PA; grandson, Jason Alford (Ayelet) of Arlington, VA; great-grandson, Noah Alford of Arlington, VA; and nieces and nephews.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Henry Higgs, Jr.; sister, Geneva Thames; and parents E.A. and Lois Dye of Vardaman, MS.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m Monday, January 13, 2025 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, MS.
