Dot Witherspoon, age 91, died December 31, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. She was born June 19, 1929, the daughter of Howard and Elease Sanders Williams and lived in Jackson, Tennessee her entire life. She was employed by Milan Arsenal for 30 years until her retirement.
Other than her parents, Dot is preceded in death by her husband Billie Witherspoon; daughter Judy Witherspoon; granddaughter Amy Witherspoon; great-granddaughters Amy Faye Witherspoon and Cadence Witherspoon; brothers Charles Williams, Emmett Williams and sister Jean Ford.
She is survived by her four children: Sonny Witherspoon (Susan) of Jackson, TN, Pat Higgins (Jim) of Brighton, TN, Sarah Witherspoon of Olive Branch, MS, and Joe Witherspoon of Lexington, TN; two brothers Murray Williams and Johnny Williams, both of Jackson, TN; and one sister, Betty Ringold of Jackson, TN. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Services: There will be a private family graveside. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Trae Witherspoon, Ben Witherspoon, Thomas Witherspoon, Jae Higgins, Heth Higgins, Bryan Barry, Scott Barry and Cody Witherspoon.
The family asked that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Mid-South Chapter, 478 Craighead Street, Suite200, Nashville, TN 37204, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
