Mercer, TN

Donnie Hugh Goodman, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away at the age of 72 on January 31, 2025, at his home in Mercer, Tennessee in the presence of his loving family.

Born on June 16, 1952, in Brownsville, Tennessee, the son of the late Lofton Herman and Betty Jane Harrell Goodman. He was a proud graduate of Southside High School, where he laid the groundwork for a career that would span thirty-seven years. Donnie served as the Asphalt Supervisor in the Roads Department for Madison County, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community alike.

Throughout his life, Donnie exemplified the true meaning of a carefree and easygoing spirit. He was known for his warmth, humor, and an unwavering love for his family. As a loving husband to Pamela Weaver Goodman, he created a home filled with joy and support. He was the proud father of D.L. Goodman and wife Caitlin, as well as Gregory Wayne Goodman and wife Cheri. Donnie also welcomed Kyle Wayne Lively, his stepson, and Amy Lachelle Davis and husband Eric, his stepdaughter, into his heart and family.

Donnie's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Emma Kate, Brooks, Timothy, Jackie, Allie, and Tiffany. Additionally, he is survived by step-grandchildren Warren, Emmitt, Elsie, Ava, Addison, and Grayson, along with two great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

His strong connections were not confined to family; Donnie cultivated many friendships throughout his life. He held a special bond with Randy Elston, who became more than just a friend to him—calling each other brothers. This camaraderie, along with numerous others, contributed to the rich tapestry of his life.

An avid outdoorsman, Donnie found great pleasure in fishing, duck hunting, and nurturing his garden. He had a passionate love for riding his Harley, feeling most alive when open roads stretched before him. His zest for life and adventure inspired those around him.

Donnie is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Rebecca Maples, and his parents, Lofton Herman and Betty Jane Harrell Goodman. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
