Jackson

David Campbell Smith, 72, of Jackson, TN, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at his home. Born on August 20, 1952, at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD, he was the son of JC Smith and Mary Lou McCrone Smith Capps.

David was a man of many talents, known for his creative and skilled woodworking, a passion he pursued throughout his life. David poured his heart and skill into every piece of wood he touched. His creations were not just functional but infused with love, made to be used and cherished by those he cared about.

An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed rafting, Scouting, fishing trips with friends and family, and spending countless hours in nature. His love for woodworking and the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family and friends, whom he held close to his heart.

A dedicated professional, David worked as a structural engineer specializing in truss design until his retirement in 2014. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, completing several tours of duty.

David’s family remembers him not only as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather but also as a master of the grill and a lover of good food, candy & coffee.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky Kinser Smith; his four daughters, Amber Dulin-Smith of Fairfax, CA, Lindsay Ridings (Dan) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Katherine Wann (Daniel) of Windsor, CO, Annah Grace Dubinski (Kevin) of Burns, TN; his son, Charlie Kinser (Shannon) of Sheridan, AR; his cherished grandchildren, Leo Anderson (Fairfax, CA), Chloe Coreth (Bend,OR), Logan Ridings (Portland, OR), William Dubinski (Burns, TN), Jackson Dubinski (Burns, TN), and Gus Kinser (Sheridan, AR); and his great grandchildren, Genevieve Coreth (Bend, OR) and Otto Coreth (Bend, OR). He is also survived by his siblings, Michael G. Smith (Debbie) of Raleigh, NC, Walter Nathan Smith of Crescent City, FL, and Judith L. Fly (Charlie) of Hermitage, TN. His loyal dog, AJ, was a constant companion to him and will also miss his presence.

David was a member of Grace PCA Church in Jackson, TN, where his love for Jesus Christ and his family were evident. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service to others.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate David’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace PCA Church, 1041 Campbell Street, Jackson, TN, 38301, or the charity of your choice, in David’s honor.

He will be remembered fondly for his selflessness, humor, his unwavering devotion to his family and faith. David's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him—and, of course, in the smell of a good cup of coffee.
