David N. Carter, Sr. age 94, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2013. He was born on January 14, 1919 in Humboldt, Tn to Alfred and Fannie Carter.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He was married for 53 years to the late Sara Frances Maitland of Trenton, Tn. In his earlier years Mr. Carter was an active member of the Jackson Jaycees and was the President of the Tennessee Retail Furniture Association. He spent over 40 years as an owner and operator in the retail furniture business in downtown Jackson. Mr. Carter proudly served on the Madison County Commission for over 25 years and was driven by his passion for education. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a true southern gentleman who believed in hard work, integrity, and family values. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his six children Donna Hill (Bobby), David Carter Jr, Pam Betler ( Larry), Paula Yates (Greg), Keith Carter, Kem Cobb (Owen), 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
SERVICES: The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 am at Arrington Funeral Directors, Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00.
