Daris JoyDale Whipple Robinson, age 81, entered her heavenly home welcomed by our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a recurrence of leukemia.
Born in Ripley, MS on June 11, 1941, she was the daughter of Theodore and Minnie V. Hodum Whipple. She met and then married the love of her life, Rev. Cecil Robinson on her 18th birthday, June 11, 1959. They celebrated 63 wonderful years of marriage in June of this year.
A member of Inspire Church, Joy loved God and devoted her entire life to serving Him! Ministry was always a vital part of her life through evangelism, pastoring, and many one-on-one sessions with countless people needing prayer and advice.
Music was an important part of her life, and she was an extremely talented singer, musician, and songwriter. Her songs were a great source of joy in her life! Some of her many songs were recorded by artists such as Timothy Spell as well as her own family. She was especially proud of her song, “Nothing But Praise,” which was sung on the Jimmy Swaggart television broadcast! Other than singing, she also played the piano, organ, and accordion at her home church for camp meetings and revivals all over the southeast and Canada.
A tremendous cook, she loved to feed her family, especially her grandchildren and their friends, and many visiting ministers and their families. Her chicken and dressing, chicken and dumplings, and biscuits and gravy were always family favorites! She passed many of her recipes on to her family that are still being used today. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and canning food. An expert seamstress, she sewed for her family and the public for many years.
If anyone was a true Proverbs 31 woman for her entire life, it was Joy. She leaves a tremendous legacy for her family. Heaven only knows the impact she had on those who knew her. She adored her husband, children, and grandchildren, spending much time and effort in taking care of their needs.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Whipple, and her brother-in-law, Rev. Malcolm Brock.
Family left to mourn her loss but rejoice in her legacy are her husband of 63 years, Rev. Cecil Robinson; daughters, Rhonda Nerren and her husband Rev. Bryan Nerren of Shelbyville, TN and Sharon Walker and her husband Rev. Cliff Walker, Sr., of Jackson, TN; son, Rev. John Robinson and his wife Chris, of Savannah, TN; her sister and best friend, Dorothy Brock of Pontotoc, MS; brother, Don Whipple (Sherry) of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren, Kevin Nerren (Heather), Laura Nerren, Cliff Walker, Jr., Elizabeth Bishop (Trevor), Andrew Robinson, Cierra Walker, Clark Walker, and Abbie Gooch (Chris), and great-grandchildren, Grant, Preston, and Bennett Nerren.
