Darful Henry Thomason, Jr. was born on Saturday, November 19,1938, and gained his heavenly home on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 82.
He was born in Bemis, TN on South Missouri Street in the first house behind Bemis Cotton Mill, one of three children to the late Darful, Sr. and Mildred (Winston) Thomason. Other than his parents, Darful is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bertha Thomason, and Walter Winston.
Darful attended school in Bemis, TN from grades 1- 8 and attended J.B. Young High School from grades 9-11. Darful went on the graduate from South Side High School in 1957, then attended Lambuth College for 2 years. He worked for A&P Food Stores in management for twenty years and retired from Kroger in Nashville after 25 years of service.
A man with a very calm disposition, Darful was very diverse in his interests and had a variety of hobbies. He especially enjoyed everything from computers to model trains, (HO GM&O). He always looked forward to spending time with his family and friends and especially loved taking many trips, even overseas, with his beloved wife, Mary Ann, who he constantly showed his faithful love to.
Darful was a fine Christian man who loved the Lord. He grew up in Bemis Pentecostal Church and was a member of First United Pentecostal in Nashville for 20 years, where he served on the church board for 8 years. He was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship until moving back to Jackson, then attended Love & Truth church. He attended men’s bible study each Thursday morning. Darful managed the bookkeeping for his son-in-law, Tony Larkins’ church for 20 years.
On May 29, 1977, Darful married the love of his life, Mary Ann Jones Thomason, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Steve Thomason and wife, Fran of Apollo Beach, FL, Brad Thomason and wife, Dawn of Jackson, TN, and stepson, James Randolph, Jr. and wife, Jenny of Whitehouse, TN; daughter, Charlotte Kirkland and husband, John of Jackson, TN, stepdaughters, Carrie Guy and husband, Robert of Baytown, TX and Teresa Larkins and husband, Tony of Burns, TN; brother, Freddie Thomason and wife, Marilyn of Pinson, TN, and sister, Abbie Yearwood and husband, Ricky of Medon, TN. 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 12:00 pm at Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Pallbearers to serve are Justin Gately, Josh Gately, Tyler Thomason, Ryan Larkins, Josh Guy, Justin Randolph, and Kyle Cuevas.
