After a brief illness, Curtis Stanley Harston, also known as Curt, passed away on December 21, 2022, at the age of 83, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was the son of the late George and Bertha Armstrong Harston and was born June 1, 1939, in Luray, Tennessee. He was a long time member of East Union Baptist Church, where he had held the position of deacon for many years. He was also active in the East Union Ruritan where he enjoyed cooking for those in his community.
Through his life he enjoyed fishing at his favorite fishing spots, Maple Lake and Morgan Creek on the Tennessee River along with camping with his family and friends. He was a truck driver by profession and worked throughout his career with Motor Parts & Bearing, Averitt Express, Jackson Fruit Company, Jackson Express and finally retiring from Jerry's Oil Company. Curt enjoyed working with his tractors. He bush hogged for many people throughout West Tennessee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Horn Harston of Jackson, TN; son, Stan Harston and his wife Lisa of Jackson, TN; two brothers Bill Harston and wife Marie of Jackson, TN and Tony Harston and wife Teresa of Jackson, TN; two sisters, Sherry Thomas of Jackson, TN and Debra Harston of Henderson, TN and one grandson, Jordan Horn of Lexington, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by three brothers and their wives, George Harston and wife Virginia, Jerry Harston and wife Carolyn and Alfred Harston and wife Beverly, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Thomas.
SERVICES:The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Bro. Jeff Palmer, of East Union Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
