Christopher Eason Coates, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, in Cedar Grove, TN.
Chris was born December 27, 1957, to the late Raymond M. and Nancy Coates. He is survived by his wife Lori Coates; daughters Erin Coates and Kassie Perritt; sons, Edward Coates; and Evan Coates and wife Skylar and two grandchildren, Autumn and Emmet Coates; sister-in-law, Cristina Duncan and husband Sean of Lakeland, TN; a brother-in-law, Steve Macpherson and wife Kim of Bartlett, TN; nephews Austin Macpherson and wife Lindsay; and Will Macpherson and wife Whitney.
Chris lived his life by this often-shared piece of wisdom- “A life well lived is a life lived for God first, others second, and the self- third.” He spent his life in service to cultivating the good in his fellow man. A long-haired drummer in his teenage youth, he joined the Army when he was seventeen, embarking on his lifelong journey of healing and helping. Chris used his capable hands to heal as a nurse, used his brilliant mind to help grow a multi-state nonprofit organization and multi-state business, and his enormous heart to heal and help us all become the best version of ourselves, In service to others.
If a man’s worth is measured by the number of lives he touches, the number of people he saves, and the legacy of love he leaves when he’s gone, Chris is among the kings and saints.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Pastor Gary Kenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Cotton Grove Cemetery in Madison, Co.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors prior to the service.
Pallbearers to service will be Evan Coates, Edward Coates, Mike Laverty, Jim Harvey, Jeremy Palazolo, and Richard Fisher.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America, 171 S. Hollywood Street Memphis, Tennessee 38112 or online at https://www.chickasaw.org/ .
