Charles Anthony Roe, 65, died on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his residence.
Charles was born in Jackson, TN on December 12, 1948, the son of the late Bobbie D. and Betty Jane Loynes Moling. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War as a member of the Air Medi-Vac Unit. He was retired as a lineman for South Central Bell with twenty-five years of employment. He was an active member of V.F.W. Post 1848 traveling to funeral services of other fallen veterans and participating in numerous fallen flag ceremonies. Each year he participated in the Veterans Day program at Malesus Elementary making a Bible presentation. He often provided transportation for area veterans to the VA Hospital in Memphis. He was a big hearted caring man with many talents that loved animals of all types, enjoyed hunting, playing softball and writing poems. He cared for his mother, his wife and his family always putting them first. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and he loved being involved in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Butler Roe of Jackson, TN; his daughters, Christy Smith (Woody Harris) of Jackson, TN, Charity Deaton (David) of Pinson TN, Carrie Stephenson (Chris) of Mercer, TN and Mary Beth Rankin (Jason) of Jackson, TN his son, Wiley Butler (Liz) of Spring Creek, TN; his brothers, Donald Roe (Wanda) of Jackson, TN, Bobbie Roe (Diane) of Pinson, TN and John Roe (Sherry) of Pinson and a sister, Dr. Laurie Baker (Mark) of Collierville, TN; sixteen grandchildren, Amber Jones, April Smith, Jesse Smith, Preston Smith, Autumn Smith, Ethan Smith, Collin Long, Cristen Long, Cadye Long, Will Deaton, Alison Deaton, Jace Deaton, Dalton Stephenson, Dillon Stephenson, Anna Blankenship and Jason Rankin Jr. and one great grandchild, Summer Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Richard Cannon and Tammi Murphy.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Curtis Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Browns Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Collin Long, Dalton Stephenson, Chris Stephenson, David Deaton, Wiley Butler and Jason Rankin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Smith, Preston Smith, Ethan Smith, Dillon Stephenson, Jace Deaton, Will Deaton, Sherif Elamrawy, Woody Harris and Donald Roe.
