Carolyn Beth Snyder Dement

Carolyn Beth Snyder Dement of Jackson, TN peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the age of 82. Born August 16, 1942, in Humboldt, Beth was raised in Trenton, TN where she attended Peabody High School. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and soul-mate of 66 years, Willie George (Sonny) Dement, Jr., parents, Hazel and Guy Snyder, and brother, Bob Snyder.

Beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Beth will always be remembered for her gentleness and giving heart. Her warm hugs and constant acts of kindness displayed her genuine love for others. Nothing was better than eating around Mama Beth’s table. Family gatherings for birthdays, holidays, and hunts were where lasting memories were made.

The greatest love of Beth’s life was Jesus Christ, her Savior. It was from that relationship that everything flowed and shone through her. She loved selflessly and those fortunate to be the recipient of that love would say they will never forget her acts of kindness and generosity. She cared deeply for each and every person in her life and gave of herself endlessly.

Beth leaves behind a big family whose lives will be forever marked by her touch. Her children, Bill Dement (Katherine), Alan Dement (Betsy), Joe Dement, Caryn Beth Dement Turner (Brent), Jason Dement (Kirsten), ten grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren who all brought so much joy to her life.

Beth and Sonny were faithful members of Woodland Baptist Church for over 57 years. Beth loved the women of the JOY Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Explorers Bible Study for many years.

The family wishes to thank Nancy Byrd Piercey and her team of wonderful caregivers. Also, we appreciate the care from West Tennessee Hospice and many other special workers.

There will be a private family burial to honor Beth. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Union University Office of Advancement, 1050 Union University Drive Jackson, TN 38305 or the charity of your choice.
