Lexington, TN

Carol S. Thompson, age 64, of Lexington, TN, peacefully entered her heavenly home on April 1, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born on November 11, 1960, in Memphis, TN, the daughter of the late Frank and Peggy Louise Trail Shawhan. Carol dedicated much of her life to her family, serving as a devoted stay-at-home mom after working for the city of Germantown and then Noma/Murray in accounting for several years. For forty-two wonderful years, she shared her life and love with her husband, Michael (Mike) Thompson.

Throughout her life, Carol created a warm and nurturing environment for her two children, Amanda Brooks (Casey) of Lexington, TN, and Hunter Thompson (Alex) of Lavinia, TN. She cherished her role as a mother and took great pride in the accomplishments of her family, considering them her proudest achievement. Carol's love extended to her grandchildren: Kaylynn Brooks, Lillian Brooks, Michael Brooks, and Bentley Trull, who brought immense joy to her life.

Beyond her family, Carol was known for her vibrant personality. She was an energetic individual who welcomed conversations on any topic and enjoyed gatherings with friends and family. Carol had a passion for baking, reading, and playing various games, often finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid golf fan, she would eagerly watch matches on television, becoming quite animated during play and expressing frustration if interrupted.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Mike Thompson of Lexington, TN; her daughter, Amanda Brooks (Casey) of Lexington, TN; her son, Hunter Thompson (Alex) of Lavinia, TN; her grandchildren, Kaylynn Brooks, Lillian Brooks, Michael Brooks of Lexington, and Bentley Trull of Lavinia; her sister-in-law, Lisa Meeson of Jackson; her nieces, Melinda Meeson of Madison, MS; and Allison Ealey of Jackson, TN; and her sister, Margaret Roth (Bill) of Panama City, FL. Her memory will also live on through her grand dogs, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Peggy Louise Trail Shawhan, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Barbara Thompson.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at Grace Methodist Church, 189 Natchez Trace Drive, Lexington, TN, on April 7, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. continuing until 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.,
