Bobby Henry Gobelet, cherished family man and well-respected craftsman, passed away peacefully at his home in Beech Bluff, Tennessee, on April 8, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 19, 1936, in Perry County, TN, Bobby lived a life marked by hard work, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
From a young age, Bobby and his siblings took on the responsibilities of adulthood, having to leave school to work alongside his family as a sharecropper. This early sense of duty defined his character—transforming him into the steadfast man of the house, instilling a strong work ethic that would carry him through his life. His professional journey took him from sharecropping to self-employment in the construction industry. His skills in tile work blossomed into the ambitious endeavor of building houses from the ground up, later leading him to help develop entire subdivisions, ensuring that every detail, including the landscaping, was executed to perfection.
Bobby's love for woodworking brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He dedicated his artistry to crafting beds, dressers, headboards, and toy boxes for his grandchildren, creating tangible pieces of love that would carry fond memories for generations. His meticulous nature extended into every project he undertook. Bobby was known for his precision and clear expectations. His family fondly recalls that if something wasn’t done right, he was never shy about letting you know—often with a gentle touch of warmth that revealed his deep care.
Family was the proudest accomplishment of Bobby's life. He had an undeniable bond with his beloved late wife, Sarah, who graciously shared his journey until her passing in February 2017.
Bobby will forever be celebrated not just for his numerous accomplishments, but for the love poured into every pot of stew, fruit salad, & BBQ sauce that he crafted —a special family recipe that none could replicate quite like him. His ability to tweak flavors with each taste made those gatherings around the table truly memorable.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bobby Gobelet, Angela Gobelet, Danny Gobelet (Kathy), Gayle Little (John) and Dewayne Hendrix (Susan); sister, Rosie Hicks; sister-in-law, Margaret Dolejs twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Gobelet; son, Adam Gobelet; parents, Harry and Myrtle Jones Gobelet; siblings, Oneal Gobelet, Vada Smith, and Grace Doss; and brother-in-law Chuck Dolejs.
