Bobby Joe Dees, Sr. 74 died on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Jackson, TN, Bobby was born on June 29, 1939, the son of the late M.A. and Lena Mae Sykes Dees. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Upon his discharge from the Navy he started Dees Construction Company, a business he operated for over fifty years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Jackson, TN. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a founding member of the Tennessee Sports Foundation in Jackson. He was also a certified hand gun instructor. He held a special interest in Walking Horses and showed them at The Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville, TN.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dees of Jackson, TN; a son, Bobby Joe Dees, Jr. of Jackson, TN; two daughters, Catherine Edmonds and husband Jack (Randy) of Elizabethtown, KY and Rosa Marie Dees of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Triston Frazier, Tanner Edmonds, Jack Edmonds III, Kally Edmonds, Kourtney Rayner, Crystal Boyd and Steven “Chip” Bettes and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded by an infant sister, Betty Joan Dees and later Lynda Elaine Dees Stewart in 2005.
SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 24, 2014 at Browns Cemetery with Rev. Tom Ralstin officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Arrington Funeral Directors on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
