Billy Alvin Hurt, Sr., age 87, of Cedar Grove, TN went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 27, 2021 after a brief illness.
Billy was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he served in active duty. He was a flag bearer in the Honor Guard and earned several metals including the Korean Service Metal with two Bronze Service Stars. He spent his career working as a sheet metal fabricator before retiring in 1999. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was well known as a regular competitor at local bass tournaments.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna Ruth Hurt of Cedar Grove; a daughter, Lara Coleman (Travis) of Medina, TN; two sons, Garland Hurt (Cindy) of Clarksville, TN and Billy Hurt Jr. (Debbie) of Spring Creek, TN; two sisters, Jeanie Suggs of Beech Bluff, TN and Mary Jackson of Medina, TN; nine grandchildren, Brandon Hurt (Lori), Rebecca Hurt, Ryan Coleman (Rachel), Camille Coleman, Ethan Hurt, Megan Hurt, Amber Putt, Colby Putt, and Summer Price; and three great-grandchildren, Braylee Hurt, Adalynn Hurt and James Coleman.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Amanda Hurt; two brothers, Thomas Hurt and Odell Hurt; and two sisters, Sammie Rose and Alma Lomax.
SERVICES: The family will be receiving friends on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors in Jackson, TN. A graveside funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, TN with the Reverend Kerry Zeiss officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Hurt, Ryan Coleman, Ethan Hurt, Dean Jackson, Greg Wallace and Alan Brasher.
