Billy H. Dunagan

August 12, 1945 — March 3, 2025

Jackson

Billy H. Dunagan, born on August 12, 1945, in Dyer, Tennessee, passed peacefully on March 3, 2025, in Humboldt, Tennessee, at the West TN State Veterans Home. A gentle soul, Billy brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him.

He proudly served his country in the Navy, a testament to his dedication and spirit. After his military service, Billy found joy in various pursuits, most notably his love for model trains, a passion that once led him to work for a train company. He relished the thrill of watching trains, and his collection became a source of pride and a way for him to connect with family and friends. Towards the end of his working days, he worked as a truck driver, which he also enjoyed.

Billy had an infectious love for Hallmark Christmas movies, often indulging in them repeatedly, much to the amusement of his daughters. They cherished these moments of laughter and warmth, each film a thread woven into the fabric of their family memories. Additionally, he enjoyed old western movies, immersing himself in the adventures of yesteryears.

Above all, Billy's greatest accomplishment was his family. His daughters fondly recall the profound love he shared with his beloved wife, Barbara. This love was unmatched, creating a bond that not only surrounded them but also enveloped their daughters and granddaughter. Billy's kindness and devotion left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he loved.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Melody Duncan (Asa) and Tammy Dunagan; granddaughter, Christy Andrews (Joe); brothers, Paul Dunagan, Phillip Dunagan, and Ricky Dunagan; and special friend, Billie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Lillie Dunagan; sister, Deanna Dunagan; and great-granddaughter, Brianna Shumate.

Billy's visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Bro. Charles Whitten officiating. An inurnment will follow at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. The daughters wish for everyone to come dressed casual to the services, as Billy was a casual dresser.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org/give or by mail to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
