It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Beverly Moore Bailey, a cherished mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and respected educator, who entered her heavenly home on Monday, June 3, 2024. Beverly was born in Jackson, TN on April 10, 1938, to her loving parents the late Terry Henry and Elizabeth McKinnie Moore.
Beverly was a proud alumna of Jackson High School and continued her academic journey through Union University and Belmont University. Beverly also achieved a master's degree in education from the former Memphis State University. After her schooling, Beverly dedicated many years educating youth in the Memphis City School System before eventually retiring and returning to her hometown of Jackson.
Throughout her life, Beverly's warm and social nature endeared her to many. She had a passion for hosting gatherings in her home for various occasions, reflecting her love for entertaining. In her leisure time, she enjoyed antiquing, playing cards, dominos, puzzles, traveling, and actively partaking in groups like the New Jacksonians and the Celtic society. Her biggest joy was spending time with those she loved.
Beverly leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will be forever cherished by her surviving family: daughter, Lori Key and her husband Joey of Jackson, TN; son, Terry Eagan, MD, of Memphis, TN; son, Todd Casey of Memphis, TN; stepson, Marc Bailey of New Jersey ; stepson, Bill Bailey and wife Terri of Texas; grandchildren, James Craig Ronowski Jr, Mackenzie Key, Angel Patterson and husband James, and Lauren Bailey; as well as great granddaughter, Savannah Patterson.
Along with her parents she was preceded by the love of her life, her husband, Jim Bailey in 2011.
Her beloved cat Mia followed her in death on June 3rd.
A celebration of Life to honor Beverly will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, beginning with visitation at 12:30 p.m. followed by services at 2:00 p.m. at Poplar Heights Baptist Church, 1980 Hollywood Dr. Jackson, TN with Rev. Richard Bragg and Chaplain K.L. Mercer, Hospice Chaplain AseraCare officiating.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or online at www.act.alz.org or to the American Cancer Society online at www.cancer.org.
In honor of Beverly's remarkable life achievements and the profound impact she had on those around her through both education and friendship, she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
