Bertha “Short” Burns
Bertha “Short” Burns, 80, died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Short was born in Humboldt, TN on September 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Elvis and Edna McCollum Williams. A homemaker, she was married to Clarence Burns who preceded her in death. Short enjoyed reading, cooking, listening to music and dancing. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Jackson, TN.
She is survived by a son, Alfred Burns; three daughters, Anida Lane and husband Dale, Deborah Maddox and Phyllis Mingledorff and husband Mike all of Jackson, TN; a sister Thelma Goodman of Dyer, TN; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers to serve will be Dale Lane, Russell Burns, Jason Nanny, Eric Williams, Scott Gillespie and Derek Benson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Lane and Mike Mingledorff.
Services: 1:00 PM Saturday, February 2, 2013 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors 148 W. University Parkway, 731/668-1111
