Barbara Ann Chinery, a native of Jackson, TN, entered her Heavenly home Friday, February 25, 2022, at the age of 75.
She was born Tuesday, June 25, 1946, the only daughter of Campbell and Vera (Johnson) Turner. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved brother, John Robert Turner.
Barbara married Rodger Chinery on February 23, 1980. Their love for each other was unwavering and commitment to their blended family was at the forefront of strength in their marriage.
After attending West Tennessee Business College, Barbara worked as secretary for the State of Tennessee’s Department of Health. As much as Barbara enjoyed her work, she had a strong determination to never let her professional life supersede her family life. There was nothing in life more important to Barbara than the time and adventures she enjoyed with her husband and children. Family was the most important aspect of her life and as much as she relished time with her children, that love was multiplied with the introduction of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren into the family. She enjoyed going places and attending social events. Barbara was an optimistic lady with a “no excuses” attitude. She loved animals but was particularly fond of dogs and always felt it necessary to have a pet… or two. She loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of West Jackson Baptist Church where she attended without fail until her health prevented otherwise.
She will be missed and never forgotten by her devoted husband, Rodger; son, Greg Hamilton and wife Kim; daughters, Amy Hamilton Wadley and husband Keith, and Sara Hand and husband Jonathan all of Jackson; stepdaughter Angela McNabb and husband Kelly of Hazel Green, AL; grandchildren, Taylor Wadley, Tyler Wadley, Tanner Hamilton, Kayla McNabb, Josie McNabb, and Felicity Hand; and great-grandchildren, Tyger Wadley, Aubrey Hamilton and Eli Hamilton, as well as many other family, friends and neighbors who mourn her passing.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Lonnie Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 11:00 AM until service time.
