Barbara Sue Chandler

February 24, 1958 — August 18, 2022

Barbara Sue Chandler departed this life peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at her home surrounded by family at the age of 64.

Barbara was born February 24, 1958, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late John C. and Virginia Horton Staggs. An exceptional wife and mother, she cared deeply for her family and proudly raised two beautiful daughters with her loving husband, Ron. To say Barbara loved the outdoors is an understatement, as she loved gardening, fishing, swimming, growing flowers, traveling, and spending time outside. As a loving homemaker, she was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.

Other than her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Staggs.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ronald E. Chandler; daughters, Amber Blurton (Jason) and Heather Newman; sister, Cathy Sellers (Randy); brothers, Michael Staggs (Andi) and Gary Staggs (Debbie), and grandchildren, Cohen Blurton, Kaiman Young, Alyssa Young, and Bruce Young (daughter, Ellie).

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life Service will be held August 22, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Visitation with family and friends will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers to serve will be Michael Staggs, Jason Blurton, Cohen Blurton, Kaiman Young, Bruce Young, and Andy Chandler.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at 5101 Wheelis Drive Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38117 or cancer.org/involved/donate.html.

“God’s Garden”

God looked around His garden and found an empty space. He looked down upon the
earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful for He only takes the best. He knew that you
were weary, and He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never
be well on earth again. He saw the roads were getting rough and life’s hills
were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered,
“Peace be thine.”
