Audrey Byrd Jones

Audrey Byrd Jones, age 98, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Audrey was born on Tuesday, July 13, 1926, in Gadsden, TN where she attended Gadsden High School and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. Audrey attended the Memphis School of Commerce and was employed by Regions Bank, formerly Union Planters Bank, for twenty-nine years until her retirement.

Among her many accomplishments, Audrey was a great seamstress making many theatrical costumes for school plays, as well as canning, working in her garden and being a caregiver to many of her relatives and friends. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Memphis TN until she moved to Jackson, TN in 1997, and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Audrey is survived by her son, Gary Jones (Vickie); son-in-law, Dewayne “Mac” McKinney along with her grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Jones (Michelle), Shannon Jones Long (Frank), Beth McKinney Froboese (John), Blake McKinney (Jennifer), Jeff Johns and Sara Johns Martin (Cameron); great grandchildren, Jackson Jones, Brady Jones, Gracie Jones, Asher Jones, Alex Froboese, Jon Michael Froboese, Lily McKinney, Eden McKinney and Nora Martin, as well as several cousins and nieces.

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, William Chesley Byrd and Jennie Hodge Byrd, her husband Edward (Ned) O. Jones, daughter, Cheryl Jones McKinney, brother, Khuron Byrd and a sister-in-law Marie Byrd.

The family would like to thank Bells Nursing Home and Rehabilitation for the love and care for the past eight years.

SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Highland Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Gary Snuffin of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

The family is requesting that memorial gifts in memory of Audrey be directed to Calvary Baptist Church, c/o Benevolence Fund, 119 Oil Well Road, Jackson, TN 38305.
