Brother Arlie E. SanfordBrother Arlie E. Sanford of Jackson, age 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior, peacefully, July 14, 2010 after a long bout with emphysema. Arlie was born March 5, 1936 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ona Langford and his father Earl Sanford, also a brother Earl Sanford Jr. At the time of his death, Arlie had been married to Hazel Anderson Sanford for over 53 years. Mr. Sanford served in the United States Marine Corps in 1954 to 1958 and the Reserves until 1962. He was a contractor in Jackson for over 30 years and spent the last 16 years as a partner with his son A. D. at Sanford Cabinets in Cedar Grove, Tn.Brother Arlie was called to the ministry in 1967, and was a co-founder and the first Pastor of Pleasant Ridge Full Gospel Church in Henderson, Tn. He served as Pastor until 1980. In 2005, he was elected Pastor for a second time at Pleasant Ridge and served until 2009 at which time he resigned because of declining health.Brother Sanford is survived by his wife Hazel; son A. D. and wife Cheryl Sanford of Jackson, his only grand-son, Ethan Sanford; three sisters, Bertha Upton of Bedford, VA, Juanita Kemp of Jackson and Linda Allen of Walls, Ms.Brother Sanford?s eldest son, Lawrence Sanford, preceded him in death April 12, 2003. Services for Brother Sanford will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday July 19, 2010 at Arrington Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.Officiating will be Pastor A. D. Sanford. Pallbearers serving are Jacky Bishop, Steven Church, Ed Kiestler, Montie Matlock, Bob Nichols and Bobby Roe.
