Archie Ray Thomas, age 90, peacefully entered his heavenly home on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his Jackson residence. He was born on Saturday, February 10, 1934, in Jackson, Tennessee the son of the late Guy and Audrey Upton Thomas. Archie lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love.
He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving with honor and commitment. Following his military service, Archie established and was the owner and operator of Thomas Glass Company in Jackson, Tennessee, for many years. His hard work and entrepreneurship left a lasting impact on his community.
Archie was known for his vibrant personality; he loved life to the fullest and was a hard worker. An avid golfer, during his retirement years he played almost daily at the Jackson National Golf Club, cherishing the time spent with his buddies. His interests extended beyond the golf course, as he also enjoyed hunting and fishing, embracing the beauty of the great outdoors.
Family was Archie's proudest accomplishment; he cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son, Michael Thomas and wife Sherri; his stepson, James Randall Thomas and wife Lisa; and his beloved grandchildren, Caleb Thomas and wife Hope, Seth Thomas, Skyler Thomas, Emily Greer and husband John, Christopher Thomas, and Jacob Thomas. He took immense joy in his great-grandchildren, Archie Turner Greer, Magnolia Jane Thomas, and Wilder Lee Thomas, who were the apples of his eye. He is also survived by a brother, Ralph Thomas and his wife Marie and a sister Claudia Brewer a sister-in-law, Evelyn Thomas along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Archie was preceded in death by his beloved wife in 2021, Frances Rose Thomas, and his parents, Guy and Audrey Upton Thomas He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Thomas, Siblings Charles Thomas and Bill Thomas and his wife Mary Ann and a brother-in-law Douglas Brewer.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service to honor Archie's life at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.
The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer's Association online at wwwact.alz.org.
Archie Ray Thomas will be remembered not only for his contributions to his business but also for the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
