Amy Joanne Wray Gardner McDaniel

April 13, 1957 — July 30, 2024

Jackson

Amy Joanne Wray Gardner McDaniel, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 30, 2024, in her hometown of Jackson, TN.  She was born on April 13, 1957, in Jackson, TN, to the late Gid and Dot Lassiter Wray.

Amy's early education was at Jackson Central-Merry high school before she went on to attend Jackson State Community College, where she was Miss Jackson State. She also was a contestant of the Miss Tennessee Pageant.  Her career as mortgage broker was not just a job, it was a passion. She was self-employed and collaborated with several banks over the years, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and clients.

Her true legacy lies in the love and devotion she shared with her family. She often expressed that her proudest accomplishments were her family members - her husband, sons, and grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds, and her home was always filled with warmth and laughter.

In addition to her dedication to her work and family, Amy found joy in simple pleasures. She had a deep appreciation for music.  She loved music of all varieties.  True crime TV shows like NCIS captivated her, while her collection of elephants reflected her gentle spirit. Amy had a special place in her heart for animals, with a soft spot for cats. She even leaves behind her own precious feline companion, Cry Baby.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Amy remember her as a ray of light in their lives. Her infectious laughter and kind heart made every moment spent with her a cherished memory. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Richard "Richy" McDaniel;  devoted sons, Charles Gardner (Ashley) and Michael Gardner (Allie); and sweet grandchildren, Kaylie Harris, Olivia Claire Gardner, Aaiden Gardner, and Matthew McDaniel.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sonny Wray.
